2008 Dec - Better Christmas Thanks to Carrot

We would like to apologise to any of our clients that we have upset because they did not receive a Christmas Gift from us this year. We do however hope that you will appreciate why we took the decision to give your gifts to the children and young people in the care of Stockport based Together Trust.

We felt that rather than following the usual trend of sending Christmas gifts to our clients, we could between us support the less fortunate children in our local area. After all Christmas is all about the children and we were sure you would forgive us for giving your presents away. We did swap your usual bottles of wine for more appropriate gifts, including scooters, hairdryers, hair straighteners, make-up, games and lots, lots more.

Together Trust (previously known as Boys & Girls Welfare Society, BGWS) is a charitable organisation, operating in the North of England and North Wales providing care, education, support and improved life opportunities for children and young people in need. They have been operating in the region since 1870 providing services for children and young people with emotional, behavioural or social difficulties, physical and or learning disabilities.

Their services cover residential homes, fostering, adoption community services, special schools and a college. The young people they support often experience additional disadvantage from their social exclusion and the fact that they do not fit easily into society's mainstream provision.

The Trust is committed to increasing life opportunities for young people in need, with a focus on care, education and support. As a registered charity, the organisation requires partners, particularly from the business sector, to raise awareness of its work and therefore voluntary income and fundraising activities are vital to the development of its work.
