2010 May - Confidence Restored as Market Booms Again
The press cuttings are littered with reports of ever increasing unemployment figures, and the unemployment rate is at a 15 year high. Many sectors have been hit quite badly by the current economic climate, of course financial, construction and property being the most affected and widely reported on. However, has anyone heard of the Pharmaceutical industry being as vastly reported on some of those sectors? Are you still in the dark as to how our industry is fairing up?
The news is good, and the future is promising! Here at Carrot Pharma, we have never seen the market as buoyant as it is now, and the team has been inundated with vacancies. This is fantastic news, and the best way we have of measuring the confidence in our market. I’m hearing from clients on a daily basis who are expanding teams due to new business wins, new agencies are being formed within already established groups and we’ve seen an increase in senior level appointments aimed at driving business forward.
Right now is also a great time to move; joining companies at the start of newly won projects, and during what is likely be a time of gentle economic growth will give you a solid grounding in the company’s culture, and more scope for becoming that all important star member of staff.
In addition, as we approach Summer the Pharma agencies do get a little quieter whilst Pharma clients based in hotter climes close down for a few weeks during the summer. Looking now would facilitate a move/start date around July or August for most people, meaning you can join a company and potentially have a gentler introduction whilst learning the ropes.
Admittedly we did feel the effects of the downturn in the market towards the back of 2008 and into mid 2009, although as we head full on into 2010 our market is stronger than ever before.
If you have been thinking about exploring new opportunities although have felt slightly nervous about this prospect, then please feel free to talk to anyone of my colleagues who can talk through a range of opportunities and companies with you.
