Emma Townsend

Best part of your job: Making placements!! That phone call from the client with the offer is without a doubt always the best phone call……then to top it off….being responsible for delivering the great news to the candidate. Brilliant! I’ve been in recruitment for 11 years and I never ever tire of these phone calls.

Worst part of your job: The candidate not accepting the offer when you know they are making the wrong decision and when you absolutely know they will be making that call back  to you in a couple of months to say they made the wrong decision. Oh the pain……

Favourite day out: A winters day out drinking in Manchester, Usually around Christmas when all the Christmas decorations and Christmas shoppers are out. I love escaping from the hustle and bustle of the shoppers into a great pub playing great music with friends….so will always start off in Cor Biers with it’s Fab juke box. Listening to the Smiths and drinking Red wine.

Favourite outfit and why: Navy and white stripy Whistles dress, love the sailor look and all things nautical!!

Favourite room in your house and why: My bedroom….Navy and White theme again, very New England! It’s also where I get ‘my time’ which I love.

What did you want to be when you grew up: An actress. I’m obviously not an actress now but my life I’m pleased to say is never without a good drama…. Always in a good way though.

Your style icon: I have different influences of my style and generally like to try out different fashions and looks, so not one person comes to mind. I most enjoy making purchases from independent boutiques rather than high street, which means my wardrobe has fewer items in it but what’s in there tends to be timeless…..that might just mean I’m just actually not very fashionable!! , only just worked that out. Once again I love the nautical look so if I have to give one icon maybe it’s Popeye!!!

Biggest Influence: Oh that’s really difficult…… so many……..Tony Wilson aka Mr.Manchester

What’s on your bedside table: At the moment 2 books….. A Morrissey biography and Paul Mckenna ‘I can make you slim’ (Not sure if this is the right title as I’ve not actually read it, just hoping that by just being on my bedside table it may work!) My jewellery box and probably a half full glass of water.

Favourite Film: The Wizard of Oz. Love the red shoes.

Biggest ambition: To appear in Coronation Street, just as me though. I’d be in the Rovers every night.

Favourite book: Wuthering Heights …. One of my favourite songs too! I think I can sing it note perfect after a vodka or two.

Favourite place you’ve ever visited and why: New York! It’s everything I love about life… Eclectic and Alive

If you could have a super power, what would it be: To never gain weight

What is your favourite food: Thai hot spicy curries

If you were trapped on a desert island, what 3 things would you want with you: A cow for cheese making purposes, travel around the island and general amusement. A sheep to keep my cow company and to give me more cheese variety and to produce wool. And knitting needles to use with my wool!! - time flies when you're knitting!

What's your most prized possession: My engagement ring which isn't really an engagement ring anymore, it's just a ring! But very special.

You can invite 3 people, dead or alive, to dinner. Who do you pick: Morrissey, Tony Wilson and my grandad. (He died in 1985, but I'd love to hear just one more of his amazing made up stories about Percy Wooden Leg!!! I think Tony Wilson and Morrissey would do too... perhaps Tony Wilson and grandad have already met in that big place in the sky...'

Other than working, what do you spend most of your time doing: Eating.
