The world of Jane

Jane Stringer

Morning Routine: I really am a get up and go person. As soon as the alarm goes off I am up washed, dressed and out of the house usually within 20 minutes.

Best part of your job: Seeing a project successfully completed, like this website.

Worst part of your job: Chasing the consultants for the articles they are supposed to have written or contributed to.

Favourite day out: a really fresh early summer day, walking in the hills with my boyfriend and dog, stopping somewhere for a fantastic picnic and finishing in the beer garden of our local pub.

Favourite outfit and why:  my grey leggings and burnt orange jumper, because they hide my lumps and bumps, whilst still looking reasonably smart.

Favourite room in your house and why: at the moment it is my cellar, as I am in the process of renovating it, into a large bedroom with ensuite and a utility room

What did you want to be when you grew up: a teacher

Your style icon: I don't have a style icon, but do have a little sister that takes me in hand every now and again and sorts out my wardrobe.

Biggest Influence: My mum, even now in her 60's she will take on any challenge, is fitter than anyone else I know, and constantly tells both my sister and I how much she loves us and how proud she is of us. It makes you want to keep striving to impress her.

Biggest Ambition: I don't have a biggest ambition, each time I take on a new challenge it's my ambition to achieve it. So I suppose its to finally complete my house renovation and to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall in July, thats 73 miles in 3 days.

What’s on your bedside table: a glass of water, Paperweight by Stephen Fry, a pen and a pad of paper to write down whatever I am thinking about if I can't sleep.

Favourite Film: The Shawshank Redemption

Favourite book: My Hans Christian Anderson Book of Fairytales or The Collected Short Stories of Roahl Dahl, both have some very dark stories in them definately not for the children.

Favourite place you’ve ever visited and why: I can't really say there is one, Albuferia in Portugal reminds me of my childhood, whereas Bethlehem and the Wailing Wall are very spiritual places and have a profound effect on you whether you are a religious person or not.

Evening routine: As soon as I walk through the front door I am greeted by my dog Oscar, so a quick change of shoes and back out of the door for a good walk, followed by animal feeding. Then maybe I might sit down with a cup of coffee before starting our evening meal and cracking on with some household jobs. Although my partner Mark will try and persuade me to go for a glass of wine or two in our local pub and I don't really take alot of persuading. Usually I fall into bed shattered at about 11pm.
