The Carrot Culture

Skills Required At Carrot?
We generally look to recruit individuals with prior recruitment experience, ideally within Healthcare, Pharma or associated industries. We will consider people with experience in other sectors, but they must have the ability to learn a new sector and get up to speed quickly. We are looking for ambitious individuals who have the edge over their contemporaries. We need people who want to be part of a successful team and help grow the business further. Consultants are expected to be resourceful in sourcing the best candidates for our clients. Those who succeed put in the time and effort, working in an organised and efficient way.
Our Approach to Recruitment - The Low Down
Our approach is based on building strong relationships with both clients and candidates so we can get the best fit possible for each role. Our consultants are confident both on the phone and in face to face meetings and understand the importance of real communication between clients and candidates. We get most of our business from recommendations because we don’t just place people for the sake of winning a commission.
Our Knowledge
At Carrot we believe in having a real in-depth knowledge of our sectors. We keep abreast of industry developments and can talk to clients and candidates from an informed perspective. All our consultants regularly attend courses, conferences and seminars to keep up to date with sector developments. Consultants also have access to the knowledge held by our founding directors who have hands on experience of working in our core sectors. All this means we can have clear and meaningful discussions with clients and candidates, we understand exactly what they are looking for and inevitably this leads to a higher rate of success in matching the right people to the right job.
Our Candidates
A large percentage of our candidates are generated via recommendation or word of mouth and we couldn’t hope for a better advert.
We also advertise across a wide range of print and web media, attracting candidates to specific roles. We invest lots of time networking across the industry, whether it be via industry conferences or social media. Candidates enjoy speaking with us because we are not aggressive or pushy, we are informal, relaxed, friendly and helpful. We do not send CVs out without their permission. Never have, never will.
Even though candidates approach us looking to change roles, many still need a confidence boost and a gentle reminder that they are capable of succeeding in a role, especially if they have been doing their existing role for a number of years. Our consultants understand this. Candidates are always well briefed on the type of role and environment they will be interviewed in, whether it be formal, informal etc, so they are well equipped to perform their very best in the interview.

New Business
Consultants are incentivised to build new relationships with clients via networking at events, cold call generation and developing existing business.
Account Management
All consultants act as direct points of contact for their own clients. They are given a free reign how to manage and develop these clients. Weekly meetings provide consultants with the opportunity to discuss any issues arising within their accounts and brain storm with other consultants. No consultant is left unsupported and guidance or advice is always on hand from colleagues. Each consultant has access to the in-house recruitment database which helps them to organise and structure their account management.
Support and Training
On joining Carrot, you will be given full training on the database, industry and internal systems. However, consultants are expected to use their initiative and get themselves up to speed on the industry and clients as quickly as possible. On-going training is provided and a dedicated training budget is allocated to each member of staff, allowing you to flag up any areas which might need further development.
