The current definition offered by the Chartered Institute of Marketing is:
 ‘the management process responsible for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements profitably’. There is currently lots of debate around whether this definition adequately covers all the different specialisms within marketing and more information can be found on the CIM website.
