Over the years we’ve participated in a variety of charitable events to help raise much needed funds for those in need. This has included bake sales for Macmillan coffee mornings, spending the whole day on our feet for Stand up to Cancer and a host of endurance and physical activities.
Last year we decided it was time we did more and as a company set ourselves the task of supporting the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT). CAFT is especially important to us at Carrot Pharma Recruitment as it was set up by the late father of one of our colleagues.
The work they do is incredible, offering disabled and disadvantaged children the opportunity of a holiday away from home. The Farm includes adapted accommodation, sports hall and facilities, adapted park and farm animals, all set within beautiful Cheshire countryside. All the funds we raised were to go towards improvements to their on-site Sensory Room.
We gave ourselves six months to raise £2k for the charity. The challenge was set – to hypothetically walk, run, swim and cycle from Manchester to Ohakune in New Zealand, the home of the world’s largest model carrot, and back again. Just a meer 22,904 miles!
It was fantastic to see our team get involved in so many events to help up our miles and raise funds at the same time. This included running the Manchester Half Marathon, the Manchester Marathon, taking part in It’s a Knockout, cycling the Vélo Birmingham 100 and running several 10ks across the country.
We finished our challenge with a windy hike up Snowdown as a team and smashed our target raising £2,208 for CAFT!
We hope to be back raising more funds for charities as a team soon!
