Scientific Team Leader

£80K DOE | London |  Editorial |  Permanent  | Ref:886895

Phillip Hall

Which team do you work in?
Healthcare Communications.

Which area do you specialise in?
Medical Communications and Medical Education

How do you keep up-to-date with the issues in your sector?
Communicating with candidates on a regular basis, over the phone, email and through LinkedIn. Also meeting candidates over a coffee is a great way to learn more. I try to get to as many networking events as possible; meeting with clients on a regular basis to find out what they're doing really helps too.

What's your favourite film and why?
My favourite film would have to be...'Once Upon a Time in the West'. A classic Western film that offers everything.

If you could invent one thing what would it be?
I'd invent a time-machine, or maybe something easier to use like 'Bernard's Watch'. It would be ideal to be able to stop time every now and again to catch up on some sleep or spend some extra time finding that perfect candidate!

What makes you #DistinctlyDifferent?
I'd like to think that I really get to understand what people are looking for in their next role and deliver to that. This, coupled with keeping regular contact with clients to see what their situation is, allows me to match the right candidate to the right company, as each Medical Communications Agency offers something slightly different. This may sound like ordinary recruitment to some, but you have to act differently and go the extra mile in this sector to make it work for everybody involved!

The Role

Scientific Team Leader - Medical Communications (Digital Agency) - Central London - Up to £80K DOE

The Company

I recently spoke with an agency that are looking to increase their scientific offering by bringing in a Scientific Team Leader. The agency works purely within Healthcare and Pharma and provides digital services right across the board. They cover UX Design and Development (using insight and research), Social Media (experts in social engagement and customer experience) and Digital Health - knowing the latest trends in digital health technology.

They're looking for somebody who's got entrepreneurial ambition to help them grow and develop their scientific/editorial team. This is a strategic role with the successful candidate being responsible for driving many areas, including client development, staff recruitment/retention and developing new scientific content. This role would be perfect for somebody currently working in a Medical Communications/Education agency who's looking for something a little different, ideally within the digital space.

  • Hugely successful digital agency with offices in London, Berlin, Dublin, Warsaw, New York, and Sardinia.

  • Innovative agency, really at the forefront of Healthcare Technology.

  • Therapy areas include Cardiovascular, Oncology, Immunology, Respiratory and Animal Health

  • Well established, been open for business since 2001

The Role

  • Provide high-level scientific consultancy to clients

  • Delivering the highest standard of Medical Communications projects

  • Line manage medical writers and editorial team members - mentoring and developing consistently

  • Work with the commercial team to create and present medical content, websites, apps plus others to clients

  • Plan and manage the content development for review for multiple ongoing projects

  • Track record building relationships with client and healthcare professionals

  • Experience within a Healthcare/Pharma environment

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Previous line management experience

What should you do next?

As mentioned previously this would be great role for somebody working in Medical Communications looking for a change. The agency works purely within the digital space across a variety of disciplines. Let me know if you'd be interested in having a chat.

Unless otherwise stated, if applying for a job within the European Union, you must ensure that you are already authorised to work there. Carrot Pharma Recruitment Ltd acts as an Employment Business and an Employment Agency on behalf of our client in recruitment for this role.
