Scientific Team Lead - Oncology Publication Planning - Medical Communications - Home based, London or South Coast - £Fantastic package!

Fantastic opportunity for a Principal Medical Writer or Scientific Team Lead looking to move away from content development and benefit from the flexible working arrangements offered by this internationally respected CRO. You will be working on a large Oncology Publications account and managing up to 6 writers.

The role involves working closely with clients, KOL's and external suppliers, with monthly travel for client and internal meetings. When not travelling, you can enjoy the flexibility of being home based or at company offices in West London or on the South Coast.

The Job

Scientific Team Lead of a team focused on publication planning and scientific content. This is a pure content reviewing role - not a content generator. You will review the teams work, publication plans, strategy development and assisting with business development.

  • Full line management responsibilities for a team of 4-6 people, both commercial and scientific medical writers, including 1-2-1's, recruitment, appraisals, training and development and resource allocation.
  • Oversee 2 established accounts in the field of Oncology.
  • Developing and championing scientific and editorial quality standards and best practices
  • This role will focus on Publication Planning and Scientific Content development, and as Scientific Team Lead you will review the teams work, publication plans, strategy development and assist with business development.
  • Being the primary scientific client contact and troubleshoot potential account and client issues.
  • Travel - once a month on average for couple of days to attend client and internal team meetings.
  • A senior member of the Scientific Services Group, a fast paced and dynamic team



This role will suit a strong character and excellent communicator who is personable, engaging and collaborative. Someone who is proactive, self-motivated, able to motivate a geographically diverse team and happy to work in a corporate environment.

  • Must have a strong medical writing, scientific and editorial background.
  • Line manager who enjoys training and developing people
  • Effective project and resource planning, with an understanding of budgets
  • Client focused approach
  • Strong publications experience with knowledge of Datavision preferable
