How do you keep up-to-date with the issues in your sector?
Communicating with candidates on a regular basis, over the phone, email and through LinkedIn. Also meeting candidates over a coffee is a great way to learn more. I try to get to as many networking events as possible; meeting with clients on a regular basis to find out what they're doing really helps too. 

What's your favourite film and why?
My favourite film would have to be...'Once Upon a Time in the West'. A classic Western film that offers everything.

If you could invent one thing what would it be?
I'd invent a time-machine, or maybe something easier to use like 'Bernard's Watch'. It would be ideal to be able to stop time every now and again to catch up on some sleep or spend some extra time finding that perfect candidate!

What makes you #DistinctlyDifferent? 
I'd like to think that I really get to understand what people are looking for in their next role and deliver to that. This, coupled with keeping regular contact with clients to see what their situation is, allows me to match the right candidate to the right company, as each Medical Communications Agency offers something slightly different. This may sound like ordinary recruitment to some, but you have to act differently and go the extra mile in this sector to make it work for everybody involved!

This agency has changed so much since we started working with them, growing from strength to strength. In the three years that I've personally been working with them (Carrot as a business, much much longer), they've won circa 10 awards, opened offices in the US, opened two further offices in the UK, sprouted three new business units and brought on several high profile new clients, not just within Pharma but right across Healthcare. The Role

Something a little bit different on offer here, a role with different objective - working closely with clients to drive growth through building strong client partnerships. This role isn't really a business development role, but more around building strong links with clients, looking to organically strengthen relationships, supporting the delivery of the business plan.

  • Working within one of the agencies specialist business units - focus on Oncology, HIV and Rare Diseases

  • Identify opportunities for update of new offerings and medical education services

  • Work closely with the team to support proposal development and pitches

  • Ensuring all group processes are met on new and existing business

  • Demonstrate business acumen, building client confidence in the services the business provides



  • Able to build excellent relationships with direct and broader team

  • Comfortable being an ambassador for the agency

  • Excellent financial acumen - working closely with the BUD on the P&L

  • Able to develop new proposals and assist with pitch delivery
