Clinical Sales Specialist

£40k | South East, London |  Devices/Healthcare Sales |  Permanent  | Ref:886841

Rowan Day

Which team do you work in?

Medical device/healthcare sales and marketing.

Which area do you specialise in?

All field based sales roles from Territory Manager to Head of Sales/Sales Director level, plus Head Office based marketing positions.

How do you keep up-to-date with the issues in your sector?

The medical device sector is continually evolving as new technologies and break-through products are brought to market, and this makes it vital to stay completely up to date with the latest goings on.  LinkedIn Groups are a great way to find out what’s happening in the medical device world.  I’m also a great believer in simply having as many conversations as possible with candidates and clients – always a good way to keep a finger on the pulse.

What’s your favourite film and why?

I’ve seen Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels so many times I feel I know the script!  And what a script it is...

If you could invent one thing, what would it be?

Some sort of device or implant that meant that your children were totally compliant in the morning, and therefore got off to school without the usual daily drama of one kind or another!

What makes you #DistinctlyDifferent?

I once bought a live chicken at an auction (I thought I was buying a CD player!) and had to walk it back to the train station on a lead.  And sit with it on the train!  At work, I like to think that I take a real and genuine interest in how my candidates are feeling during the recruitment process, which can be a fairly stressful time, and help them every step of the way.

The Role

Clinical Sales Specialist, £40k, London/South East England.

The Company

A privately-owned UK company that specialises in the design, manufacture and sales of innovative and high-quality medical devices used within the Critical Care setting.

  • Company ethos is to work extremely closely with clinicians to develop and market cost-effective medical device solutions.
  • Devices are developed to enhance hospital treatment efficiency, patient care and safety within the Critical Care and the Surgical environment.
  • The company manufacture their own devices but also act as a UK distributor for a number of leading medical device manufacturers ensuring a constant supply of innovative products to the NHS.

The Role

Selling the product's portfolio of Critical Care and Theatre devices and consumables into both the NHS and the private healthcare sector.

  • Products: Anaesthesia consumables, airway management devices, patient drapes and haemostats.
  • Territory: London, South East (Kent, Sussex).
  • Sales Environment: Hospitals - Theatre, Critical Care
  • Customers: Surgeons, Operating Theatre staff, ITU/CCU Nurses, Intensivists, Anaesthetists, Procurement departments and Hospital Management.

The role will involve a mix of new business generation and maintaining existing, core business. 70% of the territory turnover comes from the Central London hospitals.

Although account management/sales experience is desirable, it is not essential as full sales and product training will be provided for someone with the necessary personal credentials.

  • Must have a Theatre or ITU (Critical Care) RGN or ODP background.
  • Surgical medical device sales experience a bonus but is by no means essential.
  • Access to London hospitals.

This role would appeal to a Theatre/Critical Care Nurse or ODP looking to break into medical sales, or an experienced Theatre/Critical Care Territory Manager who would relish the opportunity to work within a non-corporate environment that encourages flexibility and autonomy in the way they run their territory.
