Medical device/healthcare sales and marketing.

Which area do you specialise in? 

All field based sales roles from Territory Manager to Head of Sales/Sales Director level, plus Head Office based marketing positions.

How do you keep up-to-date with the issues in your sector?  

The medical device sector is continually evolving as new technologies and break-through products are brought to market, and this makes it vital to stay completely up to date with the latest goings on.  LinkedIn Groups are a great way to find out what’s happening in the medical device world.  I’m also a great believer in simply having as many conversations as possible with candidates and clients – always a good way to keep a finger on the pulse.

What’s your favourite film and why?  

I’ve seen Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels so many times I feel I know the script!  And what a script it is...

If you could invent one thing, what would it be?  

Some sort of device or implant that meant that your children were totally compliant in the morning, and therefore got off to school without the usual daily drama of one kind or another!

What makes you #DistinctlyDifferent?  

I once bought a live chicken at an auction (I thought I was buying a CD player!) and had to walk it back to the train station on a lead.  And sit with it on the train!  At work, I like to think that I take a real and genuine interest in how my candidates are feeling during the recruitment process, which can be a fairly stressful time, and help them every step of the way.

Associate Area Sales Manager, £30k + £24k bonus, South West England.


The Company

A leading UK Orthopaedic Trauma company which designs, manufactures and markets orthopaedic implants and devices. The company has established a very successful niche within the upper and lower extremity sector and as a result continue to demonstrate rapid year on year sales growth.

  • Massive emphasis placed on ongoing training and development.

  • Have provided the market with many genuinely innovative products that benefit the patient, the clinician, and the purse-string holders within the NHS.

  • Hugely ambitious company - they started as a small family business just 30 years ago and are now considered a global market leader within their area of expertise.


The Role

Selling the product's portfolio of trauma and elective orthopaedic devices into both the NHS and the private healthcare sector.

  • Products: Orthopaedic Trauma and Upper & Lower Extremity devices.

  • Territory: South West England.

  • Sales Environment: Hospitals - Theatre.

  • Customers: Orthopaedic Surgeons, Operating Theatre staff, Procurement departments and Hospital Management.

The role will involve attending surgical procedures, educating and supporting the Surgeons and training the clinicians in the use of the company equipment. This will lead to growing territory sales in line with set targets in addition to maintaining existing core business.



Although account management/sales experience is desirable, it is not essential as full sales and product training will be provided.

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology would be great, but more important is the capacity to learn.

  • Strong communication skills.

In a nutshell, this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to break into theatre device sales as a graduate or as someone with c.6-12 months' sales/account management experience.
