Market Access, HEOR & Value Communications

Consultant

Phone: 01625 541 035

Which team and area do you work/specialise in?

I work in the Market Access and Health Economics Team at Carrot providing services across a range of companies with Market Access and Health Economics Capabilities. Without doubt the amount of and potential use of Real-World Data & Real-World Evidence is leading to a lot of companies investing heavily in the hope of utilising this data. This is leading to huge advancements in Healthcare Technology in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms which will dramatically alter Healthcare over the coming years.

This is alongside Pharma companies working with various country specific regulators to combat an ever-ageing population, increased demands on national budgets and the need for increased collaboration across local and regional levels.

Who is your biggest idol / inspiration and why?

I don’t really have a biggest idol or inspiration, but I have a lot of time for people who are trying to change the future for the next generations. Recruitment is a very transient industry and people tend to stay in the same area, company or market for too long. I take an active interest in my area and try to ensure that the relationships I build are sustainable and aren’t built off short term motivations.

I think there is a distinct lack of skilled, experienced people in the sector. There is a situation growing whereby there is a demand for people with 2+ years’ experience in a focused area such as Market Access, Health Economics or RWE.

The sector is definitely growing, and it needs people with excellent Primary and Secondary Research, presenting experience, analytical skills and strong pharmaceutical knowledge.

Which team do you work in?

Clinical Research, Medical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs

Which area do you specialise in?

My focus is Senior Clinical Operations and Senior Medical Affairs

How do you keep up-to-date with the issues in your sector?

I try to keep up to speed with industry news sites and blogs but really the majority of helpful and interesting information comes through the conversations I have with my candidates and clients.

What's your favourite film and why?

I wasn't sure whether to admit this as it's really not very "cool" but...Four Weddings and Funeral is my absolute favourite, always makes me smile!!

If you could invent one thing what would it be?

The ability to disapparate like Harry Potter from one place to another with the click of a finger. It would make seeing friends and family (and candidates and clients) who live all over the country so much easier, particularly now I have two little people to transport too!

What makes you #DistinctlyDifferent?

On a professional level - 12 years within recruitment specifically working within the pharmaceutical industry gives me the knowledge and overarching understanding of Clinical Research to really understand my clients and candidates' needs, regardless of functional area they sit within.

On a personal level - I have done a skydive in NZ, ridden an elephant in Laos, Scuba Dived in Vietnam, swam with sharks in Thailand (small ones!) and sailed a tall ship around the Caribbean (by sailed I mean I sat drinking cocktails while the crew sailed it).

I think to me an inspirational person is someone who faces challenges and find strength when they don’t think they have any more to give – people who are fighting cancer, going through treatments which leave them feeling ready to give up but keep fighting are inspirational to me!

What is your greatest fear?

I have a big phobia of birds… it’s the feathers, the beak… just no. I guess my biggest fear would be stood in Trafalgar square with pigeons coming at me left right and centre.

How would your friends describe you in three words?

Caring, funny and down to earth.
